Our Ballet Members
Western Arkansas Ballet Company is a group of students who have auditioned for our most elite group of dancers. These ballet members are at least 12 years of age and have at least three years of classical ballet training. This pre-professional program trains dancers to continue dancing after high school if they so desire.
WAB Company members dedicate a lot of hard work, determination, and commitment to study, stretch, and practice the discipline of dance. Company members are required to take up to five technique classes a week in addition to rehearsals. The time involved in being a Company member usually requires sacrifices for both the dancer and her family. Company can be a very rewarding experience. Lead roles for all WAB’s full-length ballets are chosen from our pre-professional company.
Company members will perform at the following events this season: the 39th Annual The Nutcracker, Regional Dance America/Southwest Festival, Dance Fusion, and the Spring Dance Concert, as well as other community events and fundraisers.
Western Arkansas Ballet Company II is a studio company for dancers, ages 9-12, who have the potential talent and drive to become Western Arkansas Ballet Company members in the future. These dancers take three 90-minute ballet technique classes per week (including one WAB II Company class), a modern dance class and a pre-pointe or pointe class for their level. These dancers are cast in WAB’s Nutcracker and the Spring Ballet without going through the audition process.
